Type 81 Picatinny Stock Adapter Install Guide

Tools & Supplies Needed:

  • M4 Punch (or something smaller than 4mm)
  • Hammer/Mallet
  • 4mm or 5/32 Allen Wrench/Hex Driver
  • Torque Wrench (Optional)
  • Thread Locker (Optional | Recommended)
  • Piece of wood to punch out the stock if it is stuck (Optional)

Step 1: Remove the Stock Pins
Using a M4 punch or similar sized punch, punch out the original stock pins from the receiver. These pins can sometimes be difficult to remove.

Step 2: Remove the Stock Pull the stock out from the rear of the rifle. If it's stuck, remove the dust cover and bolt carrier. Then, use a piece of wood that fits into the receiver as a punch to tap the stock out.

Step 3: Install the Stock Adapter Insert the stock adapter into the rifle. It may be a tight fit, and you might need to use a mallet to tap it in. Apply moderate force with the mallet; it should not require excessive force to fit properly.

Step 4: Install and Torque the Screws Apply thread locker to the screws, and then insert them into the adapter. Use a torque wrench to tighten the screws to 25-30 in-lbs.
